Resolution Establishing the Tiverton Litter Committee
RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY COUNCIL NOVEMBER 14, 2017

ACTIVITIES

The Litter Committee will serve as a separate committee formally a subcommittee of the Conservation Commission. It was established to deal with litter control and prevention issues to aid in protecting the rural integrity and scenic character of Tiverton.

MEMBERS

Five members to be appointed by the Town Council from the public to serve Five Year Terms staggered with no more than 3 terms expiring in any one year. The Committee shall annually elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from among its members.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

• To establish related ordinances as need for the Town Code
• To work with the Tiverton police re-enforcement of the above
• To work with the Tiverton DPW and Town government with the eventual goal of making litter monitoring and cleanup an official component of DPW's regular work

ACTIVITIES

Litter Committee members and participants in the ADOPT-AN-AREA-IN-TIVERTON project monitor and pick up litter throughout the year in selected/designated areas throughout the Town.

The Committee members actively support the annual Spring Cleanup Week.
