Important Notice!

Fourth quarter taxes are due April 1, 2008 with a grace period to April 10, 2008. Tax Collection Office will be open on Saturday April 5, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for collection of 4th quarter taxes.

The Tiverton Tax Collection Office is located in the Town Hall located at 343 Highland Road, Tiverton, RI 02878.   Our hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tax bills are mailed out annually in June and payments may be made in full or quarterly.   Any total tax below $100.00 must be paid in full by August 1 (grace period to August 10) each year.   If you choose to pay in full on bills over $100.00 payment must be made by August 1st (grace period to August 10).    If you choose to pay quarterly, payments are due July 1, October 1, January 1 and April 1.   Each quarterly due date has a grace period to the 10th of the due month.

Checks should be made payable to TOWN OF TIVERTON. There is a $15.00 service fee for any check returned for insufficient funds. The Town cannot redeposit checks which have been returned for insufficient funds.

Taxes not paid by the due dates are subject to interest of 12% per annum calculated back to the July of the tax year.   This amount is not negotiable; it is approved by the voters of the Town of Tiverton each year at the financial town meeting.

Delinquent notices are sent out at least twice a year.   Real estate taxes delinquent for two years are in jeopardy of being sold at tax sale.   Tax sales are held once a year, the exact date varies.   This year's tax sale is scheduled for October 27, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at the Tiverton Town Hall.    Delinquent motor vehicle, personal property and tangible taxes are turned over to a collection agency if they remain delinquent for over two years.

The Tax Collection is open additional hours during the quarters.   The schedule for extra hours for 2006-2007 is as follows:
