Business Licensing

Applications for business licenses, including Business Trade Name Registration, are submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office through OpenGov's online registration system.

New applicants will have to create an individual account for their business. Follow the instructions to complete your applications and process your payment. The required fees can be paid online with the applications, or by check delivered to the Town Clerk’s office.

Alcohol License

Apply for Annual New and Renewal Liquor License (December 1st Expiration date) Class A (Package Store), Class BV (Full Bar), Class BVL (Limited Bar), Class B-C (Casino), Class B-T (Tavern) and Class D (Club) (per R.I Regulations- R.I.G.L Title 3, Chater 7 - 1)

Annual Business Licensing

Apply for Annual Business Licenses (November 30th expiration date) Antique, Auto Junkyard/Second-Hand Dealer, Entertainment, Fireworks, Flea Market, Holiday, Manufactured Housing, Mobile Home Parks, Open Sales Lot, Indoor Shooting Range, Petroleum Storage, Quarry, Tobacco, and Victualling

Business Trade Name Registration

Apply for a Trade Name Registration.

Mobile Food Establishment (MFE)

If you are applying for a Mobile Food Establishment license for the first time in Tiverton, you will need to register your business. You will need to apply for a Trade Registration first. You can apply by selecting Trade registration. Once approved you will need to upload it when applying for your MFE license. (Expires 1 year from issuance)

Private Investigator License

Apply for a Private Investigator's License (Expires 1 year from issuance)

Special Events License

Special Event Permits (Daily, Weekly, Monthly & Yearly) Special Event (ex. wedding, gatherings, road races/parades), Noise Variance (only needed if sound decibel's (dB) are over 60 (dB)'(s).), Liquor F-1 (one day/full bar), Liquor F (one day/ beer and wine), Peddlers & Hawkers, Fishing Tournament, Yard Sale and Farmers Market.

The individual departments within the Town will review all license applications to ensure that the licensee is in compliance with all State Laws and Town Ordinances before being placed on the Town Council agenda for approval. You will receive emails from the Town during the review process, and any deficiencies will be noted so that you can address them as soon as possible.
