William H. Girrier

Primavera #4Primavera #2

Bill Girrier is a self taught artist who started painting portraits in his early teens using sign painter pigments on the back of oil cloth. After naval service and a career as manager of aerospace projects he returned to producing paintings and sculpture on Long Island where he won several juried competitions and awards. During this time he developed a new kind of art called “Entropic Abstraction” which is the graphic rendering of the basic forces of nature in action where the forces themselves take part in the creative process.

Moving to Tiverton, RI in 2000 he continued to produce paintings and sculpture with particular emphasis on further developing “Entropic Abstraction”. Some of his “Entropic Abstraction” work has been exhibited in Newport where it has sold. In Jan 2009 one of his sculptures was accepted in the annual members’ juried exhibit at the Newport Art Museum.

The Tiverton Arts Council highlights local artists on this page.
