The Tiverton Arts Council (TAC)
TAC is a town committee that was formed in 2000 as mandated in the town charter. The Arts Council strives to build community through the arts, thus enhancing the quality of life and contributing to economic development in Tiverton. Each member of the Arts Council serves for a minimum of 2 years, following his/her appointment by the Town Council. The Arts Council advises the Town Council about developments related to the arts that affect the town, including legislation, zoning and the availability of grants to support the arts. The Arts Council is responsible for exhibitions of work by regional artists in Tiverton’s town hall. The Arts Council provided the impetus for formation of the non-profit Friends of Arts in Tiverton and for creation of educational programs geared to both children and adults in Tiverton. Its current concerns are adoption of zoning for arts districts in Tiverton and support of an artists’ colony that would expand affordable housing in Tiverton while creating studio and gallery space.

Tiverton Arts Council Unveils a Display Board Dedicated to the Arts
Thanks to a Rhode Island Legislative Grant and the assistance of Rep. John Loughlin, the Tiverton Arts Council has provided a colorful display board for the Town of Tiverton. The board’s central location in the busy Stone Bridge area will provide residents and visitors to the area with current Arts-related information.
The display case has been installed at the edge of Coastal Roaster’s outdoor seating area at 1791 Main Road, Tiverton. The Arts Council extends a big “Thank You!” to Gary Mataronas for generously donating the space for the board, to Alan Sousa for creating the beautiful surround, to Houston Scott for getting the permit and installing the board, and to Ann Parker for coordinating the effort.
Information for all arts-related events will be accepted. Postings for the board should be left in the Arts Council’s box in the Mail Room at Town Hall.
